Ladies At Mayfair Being Servants
Mission Statement:
Providing opportunities for women to grow spiritually by meeting our common needs—supporting, bonding, comforting, nurturing, learning, and mentoring
Mayfair Ladies Ministry is currently comprised of these committees:
The Welcoming Touch - This committee welcomes each new lady to Mayfair, including wives of new members, with a fellowship activity and a gift.
Cookbook Committee - A cookbook of Mayfair recipes was published for Mayfair ladies, which is enclosed as a gift for new members. It is currently into its second printing. The price to Mayfair ladies includes cost of publication, plus cost for extras held in reserve for new members. (Non-Profit.)
Annual Ladies Retreat - Our annual retreat, usually planned for February, is the highlight of the year for Mayfair ladies and guests. For the last few years, the retreat has been held at local hotels.
Special Activities Committee - This committee coordinates special activities for ladies by appointing a committee for each activity. Special activities include Ladies’ Night Out, Game Nights, Saturday brunches, etc. The coordinators welcome ideas for these times of fellowship.
Publicity Committee - This committee backs up publicity efforts of other individual committees by acting as a resource for ministry efforts. The committee advertises in-house via bulletin boards, fliers, etc.
Wedding Teas / Registered - The purpose of this committee is to make sure that a shower or tea is planned for each Mayfair bride. Teas and showers are announced in the bulletin and are open to all ladies of the congregation. They are usually planned for Sunday afternoons in individual homes. Exceptions are those planned at the building at the discretion of the hostesses. (Phyllis Watson)
Auxiliary Wedding Tea Committee - This committee plans and has a church-wide party, either in one of their homes or at the building, for other brides who have not been given a party. The Wedding Tea Coordinator notifies this committee before proceeding with work.
Baby Shower - This committee welcomes each “first” Mayfair baby with a shower. These showers are usually planned for Wednesday evenings following classes and are open to the entire congregation. The shower is announced in the bulletin, and a sign-up sheet is posted for hostesses. Hostesses provide a gift and refreshments for the shower. (Ginger Gober)
Wonderful Wednesdays for Women - In conjunction with the Inner City Ministry, this committee coordinates lunch for ladies who attend the Inner City class on Wednesdays. Click here for more information about the Inner City work.
Sister to Sister Ministry - This ministry makes gifts to be sent with our mission teams to the ladies at the destinations to remind them that they are our sisters and in our thoughts and prayers.
