Caring And Sharing Servants (C.A.S.S.)
An Intergenerational Ministry of the Mayfair Church of Christ
Caring servants of all ages reaching out to all senior adults at Mayfair who want and need our services.
The mission of the C.A.S.S. Ministry is threefold:
1. We want to provide help to those Mayfair senior adults who want and need it.
2. We want to be available when we learn of an unfulfilled need. This will be in the form of visits, occasional meals, transportation, help in the home, communion on Sundays and other help as needed or requested.
3. We want to allow all who want to serve in this way to participate.
We visit our brothers and sisters who are in hospitals, who may be restricted mainly to home because of injury or other conditions. We also want to reach out to those who are in nursing homes or other adult care facilities, or those just needing a visit now and then.
We may also coordinate services provided by other ministries at Mayfair so that the little things that go wrong around the house from time to time can be corrected, such as:
• Replacing burned out light bulbs,
• Changing batteries in smoke detectors,
• Changing filters in air-conditioning units,
• And other minor repairs.
Perhaps you could be of service to others who are in need of going on short errands. We need a group of willing volunteers of all ages who can provide routine transportation to Mayfair, the market, malls, doctor and dentist appointments, pharmacies, etc.
Sometimes all that is needed is someone to talk with. We know how important it can be just to hear a friendly voice ask how you are and what is going on today in your life. You may visit in person or by telephone or both depending on the circumstances.
In all that we do we try to remember that by serving others we are serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We try to be His hands and feet and voice in reaching out to those who need a little help occasionally or on a regular basis.
We try to serve God as defined in James 1:27: Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep ourselves unspotted from the world. We invite you to join with us in this ministry of Caring And Sharing Servants.
Please let us know if you or someone you know has a particular need or if you have the skills or time that you can share with those who need what you alone may provide.
We have a monthly covered dish luncheon in the Fellowship Hall on the third Thursday of each month. We invite you to bring your own favorite dish, plus a little extra to be taken to one of our own. Our December luncheon is on the 2nd Thursday when we host the Children from the MCDC who treat us to seasonal songs.
